  1. Follow the link below for the official ITTF table tennis rules. Scroll down to section 2.10 where it tells you how to win a point. You can hit the ball with anything as long as you don’t hit the ball twice successively!!!!
    I’ve been playing at a good level for quite a few years. If the ball hits anything other than the blade, there’s very less chance of it making the other side anyway (but it does happen sometimes!)http://www.ittf.com/ittf_handbook/ittf_h…

  2. I used to play competively and it happens maybe once every other match.
    Most common is hitting off the index finger on the backhand side.
    It is rare for the ball that was played off a player’s hand to go back over the net, but it does happen, and it is a legal hit.
    Check rule 2.05.07
