   the best way to play backyard (or street) cricket is with a tennis ball, but get some electrical tape and tape the ball up. otherwise the ball is too light, bounces too much, and doesn’t carry as far in the air as a normal cricket ball.
   if you want to be able to swing the ball, tape one side heavily and only put a little on the other side. as other people have said, don’t use a leather cricket ball on the street as it will deteriorate quickly, but i wouldn’t even use it on yard grass, it doesn’t bounce enough and it too hard for the small space. taped-up tennis balls are the way to go. best compromise you can get.
   as for the bat, most people have a very cheap, very thin cricket bat that they only use for backyard cricket. if you don’t, get one. they usually come with a dodgy little red tennis ball and stumps, all for about ten bucks. who cares if it wears on the toe? it’s disposable. using a match bat is overkill… and most players put “shoe goo” on the toe of their bats to protect against wear anyway.

   Ummmm i recommend you use a Tennis ball…
   but still be careful on where you hit the tennis ball…
   just a few days back i broke my friends neighbors front glass door and it hurt my Wallet….
   anyways itz not a good idea to play with the leather ball as it does do more damage if hit at the neighbors front door lol..and the ball will tear….
   Umm for me it was hard making a transition from tennis ball to leather ball so it best to start practicing with the leather ball IN THE NETS NOT ON THE STREET!!!

   We use to play on the front lawn when we were kids and we used a tennis ball. God, we broke a few windows in our neighbourhood. Lucky for us, the windows we smashed were houses from parents whose kids were playing cricket.
   It was a bit daunting jumping the fence inot a yard with a dog.

   get yourself a plastic ball & it won’t wear as much.
   Yes, batting on concrete will eat away at the ball & the bat.
   In terms of your bowling, if your a fast bowler, you’ll get more bounce, but less movment off the seam.
   If your a spiner, you will get far more grip, turn & bounce.

   Apart from the wear and tear,the pitch will be very even and too predictable.
   Good for starters,until they are ready to face uneven bounce which makes the game more interesting.

   no defently not.the end of your bat wuld get ruined from the ground the ball slowy roughin and break go to the nets better for you equitment.
