My Friend Beat Me In Tennis! Now I’m Angry!?

Just today, me and my friend wanted to play Tennis during our P.E Class. This is his second time playing and he never practiced. For me I have some experience and practiced with my cousins during the weekends. My friend played a 1 on 1 match and won. I thought it was luck but he beats me again and again. I get really pissed off and stopped talking to him through out the whole day. He also began talking a lot of crap to my friends and everyone in the school. This is where he pushes me to the limit. Now I want my revenge but need help.
I’m skinny and under 100 pounds at age 16 but I’m taller than my friend.
I have weights at home which I can use (I use it for 20 minutes a day, 6 pounds each)
Just wondering how can I use the weights to make my forearm stronger and how do I increase my stamina and speed? Also what else can I eat that could make me gain weight?
I really want to beat him. (Yes this is Competition)
Also I don’t have tennis rackets :P

  1. Normal lifting of weights will not give you what is called “functional strength” in the tennis game. There are a few things you can do though.
If you have dumbbells you can set manually, offset the weight on one side and do slow curls to build your forearms (example: if you curl 20lbs normally, you would have 10lbs on each side of the dumbbell, offset the weight by putting 10lbs on one side, and 15lbs on the other, do it till you can’t no more)
Using even weighted dumbbells do behind the head tricep extensions, look it up on the net and make sure you use proper form and do is slowly for maximum benefit.
For tennis, I like to use very light weights and do tons of repetitions.
The best way to train for tennis though, is play more tennis. You spend 3 hours on the court and your forearm will know it. So, get a racquet for 20 bucks at walmart and start practicing your serve. Get a great serve and you will dominate any novice, especially your nemesis (I mean friend !)
Oh and forget these people who disregard your question and tell you that your a sore loser. You lost and want to know how to improve, so your a strong potential winner in my book.
    I also Hate to lose.
Good Luck, and don’t worry about your weight. Try to learn to use it to your advantage on the court.

  2. how about you just accept that he’s better than you (for now) and try and be happy for him? move on it’s just tennis.

    k, heres what u do
jump over the net and beat his *** with ur racquet

  5. you sound like a sore loser to me. so he won. big deal. as for the crap he is talking about you, just ignore it. people will tire of hearing the same thing. once he realizes they are no longer interested in what he is saying, he will shut up.

  6. Tough crap he beat u! Get over it its just a game!

  7. Just beat him next time. Don’t get mad when you loose. That will make you mad and make you loose worse.

  8. sorry buddy put lifting 6 pound weights isnt going to make you stronger….you need to figure out how he plays, meaning his strong suits and weak suits, if you can go to the net and he cant, then do that,,,if you have better endurance then him make him run all over the place…you just need to find weaknesses and capitalize on them….

  9. Practice makes perfect!!!
Not much to do with weights, hard to train alone without an expert and you need accurate balls!
    Buy a racket and practice!

  10. Take that anger and turn it into something positive. To me, tennis is just as mental as it is physical. So you can’t let it get to you. Running and sprinting will help your stamina and speed…I don’t know how much the 6 lb weights will help!Practice and work hard and take him on again. If all else fails…jump the net and beat his a$$! Good Luck.
