My Puppy Is Scared Of Balls?

Soccer balls and bouncy balls and basket balls. Any kind of ball that size (strangly not tennis balls or big exercise balls). He wont even go near one. I tried giving him treats while around a ball but he stares at it and wont eat around it. I dont want to pet him when hes scared because I dont want him to thnik its ok to be scared but I cant discipline him for being scared either. Ive even tried cuddling the ball and letting him see me playing with but it had no effect. hes still scared.
what should i do???

  1. Get down to his level and look at a soccer ball etc. from where he is. Pretty scarey huh? Wait a bit. He’ll either eventually want to play with a ball, or he won’t. There’s no forcing this - my Bassets haven’t the slightest interest in balls, and he may be one of those.

  2. What size is your dog? He probably finds the medium sized balls threatening. Tennis balls are too small to be threatening and exercise balls are too big to be acknowledged as balls rather than bits of furniture or whatever. What’s wrong with him being afraid of balls? Unless you live in a store that only sells balls this shouldn’t be an issue. Tennis balls are generally what’s used to play fetch anyways, so it doesn’t matter. Once he’s bigger he might not be afraid anymore. The world’s pretty scaring for a 3 month old, give him a break.
