Tennis Rule: Can You Deliberately Hit The Ball At The Opposing Player?
This may sound rude, but I’m wondering why in tennis the players (especially when they are close to the net or close to each other) don’t hit the ball straight at their opponent more often. Besides the fact that it would be in poor taste, is there a rule against this? It seems to me like it would be an effective way of ensuring your point.

You can do it. Some people would consider it poor sportsmanship if you are trying to injure them, but it is good tactics to hit it at them sometimes. I often hit balls at the legs or feet of my opponents. Balls hit close to the body on the dominant hand side are also hard to play.
There isnt a rule against it. If the ball hits a person then it is the other person’s point. Its bad way to win a point really. However aiming for the feet is a pretty good idea because the closer you get it to their feet the harder it is for them to hit it. But if you are deliberately pounding a ball at someone then its bad sportsman ship really. Plus theres a good chance that they move and your ball is out if you aim above the legs.
legally yes!!! you can deliberately hit the ball at your opponent….but as u said it sounds really rude and is not considerer professional……..and by doing so you create bad impression on spectators and your opponent and in turn he may hit u back………..just to tell you”"there have been many such matches in which the the player is being hit”" but the hitting player apologizez if that happens
I don’t think there is a rule against it, but if you bean the ball at your opponent and miss, or if he/she side steps then you’ve hit the ball out of bounds and lost the point.
Doesn’t seem worth the risk.
If you hit the ball and it hits the other player, the point goes to you. But like you said, it’s poor taste.
