Tennis Sch Team Tryouts?

Hi everybody, im trying out for my sch tennis team in a a couple of months and im realli nervous. Anyone has any advice on how to improve my gameplay during this period? For the record, i’ve never competed in any matches b4, and my forehand is really really inconsistent.
One last ques: is the wrist supposed to be “locked” or rather, laid back, from the time u prepare to the time u hit a forehand, and even after u made contact? And how far front is the racket supposed to make contact with the ball? My timing seems off most of the time

  1. It’s kinda hard to explain. My coach taught me a good technique, but he’s like a spin addict. I haven’t even been playing for a year yet, and I’m not sure if you like topspin much. But, I was taught have my arm extended and not touch my body as I hit. I keep my wrist bent and contact the ball at a low point then my follow-through ends up above my opposite shoulder. This kinda helps me brush up on the ball more for consistent topspin strokes. As for your timing, you should have your racket in a ready-for-swing position when you first see the ball coming to you to avoid sloppy, last-minute strikes. Without my coach, I wouldn’t have got a singles spot on the team. =(
You should probably watch some slow-motion forehand videos on YouTube if you’re not sure.
