Where Can I Go For A Tennis Rating In The Metro-detroit Area? How Much Does It Cost? Exactly What’s Involved?

I was a 2 singles player on a team that barely made it to states in high school. However, I’ve been playing my balls off recently and I’d kind of like to see where I’m at nowadays. I’ve heard about tennis ratings but never got one myself. I was just wondering what’s involved and where I can go to get rated in the Metro-Detroit area.

  1. The rating is used in USTA local/regional/national tournaments in individual or team competitions for those only rated in a specific category.
It is pretty basic; you hit groundstrokes, serves and volleys in practice and game situations while club pros or other certified instructors watch. You are then given a ranking according to their judgment of your play.
You will need to go to the USTA website for additional information on the program and if there are any upcoming ratings programs in your area. Or you may want to call local tennis clubs as the club pro may be able to assist you if there are no available programs.
If you play age group or open USTA tournaments the rating is worthless; it is only for programs that specificaly call for a category to compete.

  2. what you have to do is get a USTA membership which will allow you to play in tournaments
and if you can play in tournaments you can get a ranking only if you win matches
but start in satellite tournaments locally to get used to it then you can start playing in championship tournaments which will give you more points to get a higher and better ranking
    good luck
